Tuuru Mission

COTTOLENGO TUURU MISSION is a centre of health, rehabilitation, educational, social, welfare and pastoral services aimed at the poor population of the entire Meru District, northeast of Kenya.

Our Vision

To empower the children with physical and mental challenges to reach their optimal level of self-reliance

Our Mission

To promote the dignity of the mentally and physically challenged children making them to experience the love of God the loving father.

Our Mandate

To take care of all poor and abandoned people, especially children with disabilities and women, so that, by having an experience of love and attention, everyone feels loved children of God and shares in His family and in the whole human family.

Currently the Mission includes

The Parish “S. Teresa of the Child Jesus “

The Cottolenghino Monastery “Jesus Priest”

The Cottolenghini Sisters and Priests Communities

Two operational realities that integrate and complement each other: Tuuru Home for Children and Tuuru Cottolengo Health Center

Tuuru Projects

Mwana Centre

There are numerous people who come to our health centre for medical care. Currently, there are many cases that need more monitoring and since we do not have an in-patient pediatric wing we have to refer to other facilities. In 2019 through the help of volunteers, we started construction of an inpatient department called Mwana Centre meaning Child centre mainly to be able to meet the needs of needy people particularly children. The construction is 70%, still remaining internal finishing and furnishings
